SillyTavern Setup Guide
Step-by-step guide to set up SillyTavern with Api.Airforce for roleplay and character chat.
Why SillyTavern?
SillyTavern provides more control over your AI chat experience compared to web-based alternatives. It supports custom presets, character imports, and works reliably with Api.Airforce's models without blank response issues.
Install SillyTavern
Download and install SillyTavern Launcher from the official website. After installation, navigate to the SillyTavern folder and run the 'installer' batch file. Once installation is complete, run the 'Launcher' batch file (with uppercase L) to start SillyTavern.
Configure API Connection
Click the plug icon ("API Connections") at the top of the screen. Under API, select "Chat Completion" from the dropdown. Under Chat Completion Source, choose "Custom (Open-AI Compatible)". Enter the endpoint and API key as shown below. Click Connect — the circle should turn green. Then save a Connection Profile.

Click the "AI Response Configuration" icon at the top (next to API Connections). You can import a preset (.JSON file) or create your own. Adjust Context Size, Max Response Length, and Temperature to your preference. We recommend disabling Streaming to minimize blank responses. Keep Seed at -1.
Import Characters
Click the "Character Management" icon (looks like an ID card). Click "Import Character from File" and select a .JSON character file. The character will be ready to chat with immediately. You can also create your own characters directly in SillyTavern.

- • Disable streaming to avoid blank responses
- • Use deepseek-v3.2 or claude-sonnet-4.5-rp for best roleplay results
- • Create your own character presets once you're comfortable with the tool
- • Save your Connection Profile so you don't need to reconfigure every time
