Chub AI Setup Guide

Set up Api.Airforce as a reverse proxy inside Chub (chub.ai / Chub Venus) — OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible.

Account & API key

If you don't already have one, create a chub.ai account and sign in. In parallel, generate an API key in your Api.Airforce dashboard — you'll need it in the next step.

Enable the reverse proxy in Secrets

Open the ≡ menu in Chub (top right) → Secrets → OpenAI. Turn on Reverse Proxy and fill in the fields as shown below. The URL must be the base URL (ending in /v1), WITHOUT /chat/completions — Chub appends the path itself.

Note: once saved, Chub hides the API key in plain text. Verify the connection immediately after saving.

Pick a model in the chat configuration

Open Configuration → Prompt Structure. Set API to "OpenAI" and pick an entry from the Model dropdown such as gpt-4o or gpt-4.5. Chub forwards this model name to us verbatim.

Tip: Model alias for roleplay models

Chub uses a fixed model dropdown — no free text. To use our roleplay models (claude-sonnet-4.6-rp, deepseek-v3.2-speciale, etc.), create a Model Alias in your Api.Airforce dashboard (e.g. gpt-4o → claude-sonnet-4.6-rp) and then simply pick gpt-4o in Chub.

Use Claude natively (optional)

Want to use the Anthropic protocol directly? Open Secrets → Anthropic and enable the reverse proxy the same way. Here the URL is the bare base https://api.airforce (without /v1).

Check proxy & start chatting

Click Check Proxy in Chub — a green check means the connection works. Then open a character and start chatting. If you get empty replies, verify that the model name picked in the Chub dropdown actually exists on our side (or is mapped via a Model Alias).

Known limitations

Chub only uses chat-completions — no embeddings or image generation via this proxy. The model dropdown is fixed, so Model Aliases are recommended. Top-K is ignored by Chub.
